"Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" 7/10 Review: A Cosmic Collision of Marvel and Star Wars

"Quantumania" takes us on a wild ride through a new world filled with strange and bizarre characters that feel like they've stepped out of a Star Wars movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been heavily influenced by Disney, and it's not hard to imagine these new beings being marketed toward toy shelves this Christmas season, with the studio always on the lookout for the next Groot.

In previous MCU movies, there was a concerted effort to explain the unexplainable, but in "Quantumania," that approach is thrown out the window. Be prepared to be presented with the unexplainable and move on without any real explanation. This approach has impacted the dry and sarcastic MCU humor, as it doesn't have quite the same bite when it's clearly contrived and aimed at commercial interests.

While the movie does have its entertaining moments, the humor falls a bit flat, and the script doesn't give Paul Rudd's Ant-Man as much to work with this time around. However, one of the movie's biggest strengths is its special effects, which are breathtaking, and it introduces new aspects of the MCU that we haven't seen before. The film takes a different direction, and it's refreshing to see the franchise trying something new.

It's possible that this could lead to something more meaningful being built, but there's always the concern that it could end up in an oversaturation of Disney+ series, where only the fittest can survive. The graphics are stunning, and the new characters are fascinating. The movie's approach to the unexplainable is a daring move that may impact the franchise moving forward, and while it falls short in terms of humor, it's still a thrilling adventure that's worth the watch.

"Quantumania" is a cosmic collision of Marvel and Star Wars that introduces new characters and aspects to the MCU. The special effects are outstanding, and the universe built is captivating. The movie's approach to the unexplainable is a risky move that may impact the franchise moving forward, but it's refreshing to see the MCU take a different direction.

In the end, "Quantumania" is a fun, visually stunning ride that doesn't require too much thinking. It's a thrill to see new aspects of the MCU and the amazing special effects, but it falls short in terms of humor. If you're a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's definitely worth watching for the new direction and captivating visuals. However, for those looking for something with more bite, it may disappoint. Overall, "Quantumania" receives 7 out of 10 digits and is a solid addition to the MCU.
